“Rapa Nui do Manhattan”

A team of dancers from Easter Island visits Manhattan island.

The Rapa Nui are the native Polynesian inhabitants of Easter Island in the Pacific Ocean. The easternmost Polynesian culture, the Rapa Nui people currently make up 60% of Easter Island’s population and have a significant portion of their population residing in mainland Chile. Easter Island is famous for its 887 monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapa Nui people.

The island economy is totally dependent on tourism and their tongue-in-cheek show through Manhattan was designed to peak interest in their culture.

Excerpts from this short were aired by most local networks.
